My name is Jackie, and my passions are Jesus, my family, and writing. That is why I have started this blog. I am a newbie at this, so please be patient with me as I work out all the technical aspects of blogging.
I am a pastor’s wife, and a mother to two teenagers.
My blog is entitled the Day of Small Things because this scripture in Zechariah has always stood out to me as something I need to see or understand. I’ve always been able to find joy and beauty in the simplest things, so I thought this may be what God was trying to show me; however, as I searched deeper into scripture, I realized this verse means so much more. Zechariah had been given a vision of the temple, but it was small in comparison to its former glory. God was showing Zechariah that He takes great pleasure in even the smallest things:
“For who hath despised the day of small things? For they shall rejoice and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel with those seven. They are the eyes of the Lord, which run to and fro through the whole earth.” (Zechariah 4:10, KJV).
We often feel that everything needs to be grand and extravagant in order to be of any importance, but God wants us to see that even the smallest things can bring us grand experiences in Him.
